A 60-day voyage through the Land Down Under is being halted following the death of an senior lady who was stranded by the vessel on a distant island.

The elderly woman had been walking on Lizard Island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The vessel departed without her and came back several hours later after the ship staff discovered the passenger was missing.

An extensive hunt discovered her body the following day.

Authorities are investigating the event, in coordination with police and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the shipping company stated that passengers and personnel on the vessel were informed that the remainder of the journey had been called off due to the "sad loss and prior mechanical issues".

In a statement, he further stated that guests would be provided a total repayment, and said the company was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via specially arranged planes".
